Serve the City 2022

Looking for a few good men!

Journey Church is partnering with the 1st Precinct of the Chesapeake Police Department and Chesapeake Young Life to begin a groundbreaking outreach to young men growing up without a father figure in the home.

Our first event will be a day-long camp at RRR Ranch at 3531 Bunch Walnuts Road on 12 November.  We are looking for men of all ages who will commit to this event and follow-on mentoring for young men of older Middle School age.  The event on 11/12/22 will run from 9AM to 8PM.  Volunteers will be responsible for serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, working behind the scenes with clean-up and helping set up for events.  We will also be providing a hands-on tire change demo and provide some home safety information.

A rough schedule follows:
0900 – Breakfast
0930 – Introduction Mixer Game
1030 – CPD Fitness / workout (Bigelow CPD)
1200 – Lunch
1300 – Life Choices (Coull CPD)
1330 – Laser Tag
1500 – Man of the house.  Tire change, basic home safety (Journey Church)
1600 – Free time to mingle (climbing wall, soccer, basketball, gaga ball,
ropes course…)
1700 – Dinner
1800 – Campfire in conjunction with Ethics (Wright) and Goal Setting
(Sparrow)
2000 – End of day

The goal is to develop the young men’s interest in “Young Life” and follow-on mentoring with either Chesapeake Police Officers or our JC volunteers.
This Serve the City project provides the opportunity for us to engage our community with Christ’s love and provide their families with Hope, Healing and Wholeness.
